Meet the Administrator
Governor Nathan Deal appointed John Sours Administrator of the Georgia Fair Business Practices Act, the principal statute OCP enforces, effective January 10, 2011. As Administrator, he is vested with the authority to monitor, investigate and assess penalties against businesses for unfair and deceptive consumer transactions. Mr. Sours was a founder and partner of the law firm Wasson, Sours and Harris, LLP. He previously practiced law with the firm Smith, Currie and Hancock, LLP, served as an instructor in construction law and dispute resolution at Southern Polytechnic State University and taught as an adjunct professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Mr. Sours was State Chair of Common Cause Georgia. He served as legislative advisor to the Georgia branch of the Associated General Contractors of America. Mr. Sours is: a former member of the State Election Board; a past President of the Atlanta Chapter of the Federal Bar Association; former President of Leadership Sandy Springs and of the Sandy Springs Foundation; and a past President of the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association. He earned both a Bachelor’s degree in government and economics and a law degree from the College of William and Mary, and received an L.L.M. from Georgetown University.
